A female individual formerly staying at a female recovery facility in California allegedly stole a minivan and led a prolonged police chase culminating with her traveling across the international boundary into the nation of Mexico on the start of the week.

Auto Theft Reported from Recovery Residence

According to a law enforcement announcement, a another female, the owner of the vehicle, forty-five years old, reported that her gray minivan from 2004 was stolen, along with her car key. The owner, who manages two women’s sober living homes, identified the suspect as Alyssa Wilson at Diana’s House Sober Living, situated approximately an hour’s drive of Los Angeles.

“My keys were taken from my house manager’s purse. I happened to pull up right when it was occurring,” Walters stated, noting that the minivan is designated for the facility’s daily operations.

Dramatic Chase Develops Across Several Regions

Officials tracked the stolen vehicle about 19 kilometers to the north in a nearby city, where they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect did not comply and accelerated rapidly. She reached speeds of about 145km/h on the State Route 118 until the chase continued into Los Angeles county. At that juncture, Ventura county authorities transferred the operation to the CHP once Wilson merged onto the Interstate 405 heading south.

“This incident is particularly unusual in the sense of the traffic conditions enabling individuals to continue to remain on the highway and prolong this pursuit,” commented a spokesperson from the local law enforcement agency.

Wilson reportedly avoided all the tire-deflation devices tossed on the roadway by authorities, as seen in footage from above.

Cross-Border Escape and Aftermath Developments

The pursuit eventually reached the international border by 1.30pm, leading to the highway patrol to end its pursuit due to jurisdictional constraints.

The vehicle owner stated on the following day that the minivan was located in Tijuana, Mexico and that she was working with the CHP to retrieve it.

“At the end of the day, I’m not concerned with the vehicle,” Walters said. “I’m relieved knowing she was not injured. The car is easily substituted.”

Owner’s Perspective

The sober living home owner, who has run Diana’s House Sober Living since October 2024, recognizes that the journey toward sobriety from substance abuse and emotional distress is not always linear.

“This represents a psychological and substance abuse emergency,” she said. “There is a need for more support. We need more resources for those that are facing challenges.”

“The recovery process can be messy,” Walters concluded.
